"WOW THIS IS AMAZING!" was the thing the riders heard coming from the back of the basic minivan of Goesenaren Cycling Club when the team manager Woets just heard the news that his team Goesenaren Cycling Club received a Wildcard.
A small insight in the team behind Goesenaren Cycling Club.
Goesenaren Cycling Club is a team with talented amateur riders who are willing to have a chance to grow to a professional rider. The professional cyclist that Ewout Fens once was at a younger age. Ewout Fens so important for the team being a mentor and still winning races to earn the needed cash to buy that sportcar.
Ewout being such a good mentor is as well the reason that Ismail made the decision to join the team. They met each other while Ismail decided to go to college in the Netherlands and they were neighbours while Ewout took good care of him in his first year.
Being part of the team is for Ismail, who is coming from Italy, a good way to earn money to spend on all the Birra Moretti he is drinking in his spare time when he is done studying and finished his training rounds.
It will be good for Ismail that the team has obtained a wildcard as it gives him now opportunities to leave the team in the future and grow in his career to the potential rider he is, however, as the manager Woets said during our visit "this potential can only be achieved if he stops drinking beer and stops eating the bitterballs he likes so much."
Woets, the typical proud manager with a big cigar in his mouth. While he was having his cigar in his mouth he said: "The development we made with the team in a short time is paying of and the wildcard is giving us more opportunities to grow and train new talents. With this new talents we can earn more money." Not a surprise he starts about the money, because he seems to need the money to make him able to spend his holidays in luxury hotels and clubs.
